Because of utter childishness, one of the most important pieces of legislation in recent decades - on the rights of Canadians to death with dignity - risks vanishing into parliamentary limbo. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reached a point, yesterday, where he'd just had enough of the bullshit obstructionism and cowardice of the Tories. So he did something about it. He "manhandled" a Tory and in the process, bumped into a female MP. As a result, everyone is losing their minds. Even that senile lame duck running the NDP, Tom Mulcair, showed some true shark-jumping expertise: “What kind of man elbows a woman?" Mulcair shouted. "It’s pathetic! You’re pathetic!” (source)
Read about it yourself here. It even has a name - elbowgate. Google it. Some particularly delusional individuals have even been calling it "assault."
So, Harper's regressive philistine fascists sodomized the entire country for nine years and everyone's okay with that. Then Trudeau treats some Tory pond scum like they need and deserve to be treated, and everyone loses their mind.
Well, you know what? The only mistake Trudeau made was apologizing for it. Like the utter cowards they are, the Tories have always caused grief for everyone and then hid behind rules and procedures. And the good guys would take the moral high ground. And nothing would ever change, because the Tories didn't give a shit about anything except themselves, and still don't.
Finally, someone comes along who has the stones to get into the gutter along with the assholes and feed them a dose of their own medicine. Trudeau shouldn't have apologized, he should have celebrated it. Karma's a bitch. Gordon Brown and the other self-absorbed Tory miscreants are desperate to stall the assisted dying legislation for no other reason than political selfishness. Fuck them. We need that legislation. Trudeau gets that. Sure, he'll benefit politically from that legislation passing - so what? You can't expect to do good without balancing your own ability to do good against the good you do.
And as for elbowing a woman, it seems that no one on Parliament Hill has ever ridden a bus....
I'm not a member of any political party because politics is bullshit. But in this case, I'm completely with Trudeau. The opposition needs to shut the fuck up. They've had their chance, and they blew up. The old ways are the bad ways. We need to do better. We can do better. And - at least in this one case - Trudeau's is the better way.
