I've worked at keeping myself organized for decades - I guess it's an occupational hazard for academics. Over the last couple of years, however, I have reflected more intensely on personal productivity, and I've also read up on the many existent methods to improve my productivity. Armed with that information, I've found I'm being far more conscious about how I manage my productivity. Given my natural inclination to designing, it's not surprising I'm moving from conscious reflection into proactive design and development of personal productivity methods.
There's overlap between personal productivity and design. Having read widely about personal productivity, I've found that lots of people have invested lots of time in devising methods and tools for personal productivity - they designed those methods and tools. So it makes sense that I should feel a strong attraction to developing methods and tools too. That's what the productivity part of this blog is about.
Full disclosure: I am trying to "monetize" this blog. Not that I expect to ever earn a living from it. But considering the effort that (I think) I'm putting into it, I see monetization as just a way to recoup a bit of that time and effort.
There's a number of key background posts that help explain the "philosophy" behind my approach to personal productivity. Here's a list of those posts:
