I'm not generally a smartphone "early adopter." I prefer to let other people buy one first and see what happens before I take the plunge.
I did, however, get a Samsung Note 7 as soon as I could. Indeed, I pre-ordered it! So did my son. And we both love 'em.
Murphy Stage 1: Then, Note 7 batteries started exploding. Naturally. Had I done what I'd done in the past, I wouldn't have been in the bind of deciding whether I needed to worry about the 0.003-ish% failure rate.
On the other hand, better safe than sorry, so my son and I signed up for the replacement program to get new Note 7s.
Murphy Stage 2: Then, batteries in the replacement Note 7s started exploding.
Murphy Stage 3: Naturally, by this point, our replacements were in the hands of UPS. Samsung halted production of the Note 7. American carriers want all Note 7s returned. But we're in Canada....
Murphy Stage 4: Today around 10am, UPS delivered our replacement Note 7s. Followed 15 minutes later by a text message from our provider that all Note 7s are officially recalled.
Peak Murphy: I wanted the Note 7 for the stylus. No point in getting an S7. So I guess I'll get a Pixel. But they're not available yet. So I guess I'll "risk" delaying returning my Note 7 till the Pixel comes out. With my luck, my Note 7s battery will explode while driving to the Bell store to get the Pixel....
I would really, really like Murphy to take a frickin' break now. He must be exhausted. I know I am.
