Intl Conf on Engineering Design (Aug 2019, Delft, The Netherlands)

Dates: 5-8 August 2019
Location: Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands
Website: ICED19
Deadline for submissions: 2 December 2018

Designing for our future is difficult: what might be new technologies, what are new trends, what kind of products and services will succeed on the market? We don’t presently know the answers to these questions, but we know worldwide growth will have an impact on the future of our children. As designers, we must become more aware of the impact we cause in a complex world we do not fully understand. In the words of Meadows et al. (1972) from the famous book “The Limits to Growth”: “the global system of nature in which we all live – probably cannot support present rates of economic and population growth much beyond the year 2100, if that long, even with advanced technology.”
